Rosser Newton and
Petro Capital Group

Rosser Newton founded Petro Capital Group in Dallas in 2002. The firm provides growth capital to companies in the oil, gas, and oilfield services industries.

As founder and managing partner, Newton leads the firm's investment activities from identifying opportunities and raising capital to serving alongside management teams as businesses grow and mature. He serves on the Petro Capital Funds Investment Committee. Rather than taking a passive investment approach, he has built a reputation for remaining closely involved with the companies in which Petro Capital invests, often serving on their boards of directors throughout the life of an investment.

Background

Before launching Petro Capital Group, Newton began his career in New York as a corporate finance analyst with Goldman Sachs from 1987 to 1989. His early work in energy investment banking provided practical experience that shaped his long term investment philosophy: developing deep knowledge of an industry, working closely with management teams, and creating value over time rather than focusing on short term transactions.

Over the course of more than two decades, that philosophy has remained consistent. Petro Capital partners with companies where active board involvement, operational understanding, and long term value creation are central to every investment.
